Helen Fettes Sentenced to Five Years Probation for the Death of 13-Year-Old Charles Kho of Olmsted Township

CLEVELAND- Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty announced that Helen Fettes was sentenced by Judge Hollie Gallagher to five years probation, five years house arrest, ordered to pay $125,128.25 in restitution, surrender her driver’s license for life and also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

On October 17, 2011, Fettes, 80, of Olmsted Falls, struck 13-year-old Charles Kho with her vehicle in the area of Cook Road in Olmsted Township. The victim was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died from his injuries the following day.  

On November 30, 2012, Fettes plead no contest and was found guilty of all charges including: one count of vehicular homicide, one count of failure to stop after an accident, and one count of tampering with evidence.

Assistant County Prosecutors Gregory Mussman and Carl Sullivan prosecuted this case.
