CLEVELAND- Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty announced that Thomas J. Castro and his attorneys Anthony O. Calabrese, III, Marc G. Doumbas, and Giles Timothy Marshall were indicted on charges of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity, Conspiracy, and Bribery.

Between early April 2012 and November 2012, convicted sex offender Thomas J. Castro, 35, of Cleveland, and his attorneys, Anthony O. Calabrese, III, 40, of Bentleyville, Marc G. Doumbas, 44, of Westlake, and Giles Timothy Marshall, 63, of Olmsted Falls, engaged in a scheme to bribe two separate rape victims in a pending criminal case. The conspirators sought to change the victim’s testimony in exchange for a series of bribes totaling $150,000 in cash, including a $6,000 finder fee. The scheme sought to keep Castro out of prison by paying the victims to write favorable letters and give favorable testimony in an effort to have Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge John J. Russo be lenient at sentencing.

“Today's indictment sends a strong message that Cuyahoga County's justice system will not tolerate corruption in its own backyard,” said Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty.
