Donovan Owens Indicted for the Murder of 39-Year-Old Michael MacGillis, Jr.

CLEVELAND- Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty announced that Donovan Owens, 21, of Cleveland, was charged in a six count indictment including one count of murder, one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of discharging a firearm on or near a prohibited premises, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of felonious assault, and one count of trafficking. All but one of these charges includes one and three year firearm specifications.

On January 22, 2013, Owens fatally shot 39-year-old Michael MacGillis at approximately 9:50 pm near Wagner Road and Interstate 90. Owens also shot at 43-year-old male victim striking him in the left knee, left hand, and right upper arm. The two victims had met Owens for an exchange of drugs. After the shooting occurred, Owens fled the area in his vehicle. On January 24, 2013, Owens turned himself in to local authorities. He is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
