Doctor gets 3 years for attacking former son-in-law

7/1/2014 4:00:00 PM CLEVELAND – A doctor from Allentown, Pennsylvania will be spending the next 3 years behind bars for attacking his former son-in-law.

Georges Bensimhon, 66, an anesthesiologist from Pennsylvania, was sentenced in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court this afternoon after pleading guilty in April to felonious assault.

Bensimhon was originally indicted for the attempted murder of his daughter’s estranged husband, 40-year-old Dr. Seth Hoffer.

Hoffer is a neurosurgeon at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Bensimhon apologized to the court and to his former son-in-law. He said he is not a killer but a healer. He said he didn’t mean to hurt Dr. Hoffer; he only want to scare him.
