Gambling raid puts North Royalton man in a familiar position


CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Only a year after getting a year's probation for his part in the Internet sweepstakes case, Martin Sarcyk finds himself in the crosshairs of another gambling investigation.

The North Royalton man, 63, was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on multiple counts of gambling, money laundering and possession of criminal tools. The charges touched off a wave of Wednesday raids that stretched as far away as Wayne County. In all, 15 search warrants were acted on. Sarcyk was arrested during one of the raids -- at his business in Cleveland.

"We will keep arresting offenders like Martin Sarcyk, who choose to continue their illegal gambling operations," Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty said.
