Cuyahoga County prosecutors go after the Heartless Felons, a prison gang that has spread to Cleveland's streets

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County prosecutors are going after the Heartless Felons, one of the state's most vicious prison gangs, in an attempt to stop a wave of violence that has spread to the streets of Cleveland.

Four men and a woman are named in a 23-count indictment that includes a little-used criminal gang law that calls for prison sentences of eight years if convicted. The charges also include gang specifications that could tack on three more years if convicted.

Four of the five charged -- Julius Webster, Robert Porter, Dawayne Arnold and Derrick Durden -- are expected to appear on the charges in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Thursday. Lakia Golston is to appear June 9.

The U.S. Marshals in Cleveland have identified Webster, 28, as one of the gang's founding members. He and Porter are accused of aggravated murder in the slaying of Curtis Leon Marks, 31, on Aug. 29 near a bar at East 70th and Superior.
