5 takeaways from Sunday's heroin awareness fundraiser in Lakewood

6/23/2014 LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Heroin experts from across Cuyahoga County gathered in Lakewood Sunday to spread awareness of the death-dealing narcotic during a fundraiser sparked by a local man's overdose.

"Heroin & Heroism, The Power of One" was held at Vosh Nightclub to benefit The Jake Michelich Foundation, named for the eponymous 22-year-old who fatally overdosed on heroin in April.

County Prosecutor Tim McGinty, County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson and Common Please Court Judge Michael Astrab were among the officials who spoke to a crowd of Michelich's family and friends during an afternoon of fast facts and hard truths.
