Man driving under the influence of heroin sentenced to four years in prison for death of woman following accident

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A 28-year-old Northfield man who was driving under the influence of heroin when he struck a car driven by a 61-year-old woman was sentenced in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court to four years in prison Wednesday for causing her death.

Cynthia Incorvia, of Maple Heights, suffered a broken leg from the accident but died later from complications following surgery, said assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor Jeffrey Schnatter.

"She would have never needed surgery had it not been for him driving under the influence of heroin," Schnatter said.

The accident occurred at 1:50 p.m. December 8, 2013, at Dunham and Rockside roads in Maple Heights, near Incorvia's home.

Steven Mormile, who had his four-year-old son in the back seat, crossed the center line and struck Incorvia's vehicle.

Mormile stopped in a parking lot on Rockside Road. He suffered minor injuries, Schnatter said. He tested above the legal limit for heroin.
