Victims' letters detail pain of ex-Parmadale aide's abuse; judge sends Cassondra Goodson to prison for 44 years

Cleveland – Citing victims' letters that smacked of bitterness and betrayal, a judge sentenced a former aide at the Parmadale Institute to 44 years in prison for having long-term sexual relationship two girls at the facility.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Astrab said Cassondra Goodson personified the term ''sexual predator.'' He echoed the letters, saying Goodson used her position at the treatment center for troubled children to prey on the girls, who were 13 and 15.

"You made them worse,'' he said. "You victimized them all over again, and there is a price to be paid for that.''

The sentence stunned the courtroom. Goodson dropped her head; her family members sat in shock. The families of the victims appeared to be relieved.

Goodson, 34, of Shaker Heights, pleaded guilty last month to six counts of sexual battery, five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of interference with a child's custody.
