Cleveland man who broke 4-year-old girl's jaw gets 18 months in prison
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Cleveland man who broke a 4-year-old's jaw with a belt was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison.
Cortez Fears, 41, of Case Court in Cleveland pleaded guilty last month to endangering children, a third-degree felony.
Fears whipped his girlfriend's daughter with a leather waist belt several times March 30. The beating left bruises and welts across her face, arms and back, and broke the toddler's jaw in two places.
He was arrested in April and charged with two counts of felonious assault, which were dropped as part of his guilty plea.
