Serial robber known as the 'Bearded Bandit' sentenced to 16 years
Dawud Wilson, known as the 'Bearded Bandit,' was sentenced to 16 years in prison and 5 years of probation upon his release.
Wilson, 29, was convicted of aggravated robbery for robbing 11 restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations throughout Cuyahoga County between Oct. 2014 and April 2015. In each robbery, the suspect wore a fake beard, earning his nickname. Police say that, in each case, Wilson also displayed a gun or implied that he had one in his possession and demanded cash from the register before fleeing on foot.
"It is absolutely necessary to protect the public and punish you," said Judge Nancy McDonnell.
