Cuyahoga County Grand Jury indicts Knuff for Double Homicide

7/21/2017

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley announced that a Grand Jury indicted Thomas Knuff for the deaths Regina Capobianco and John Mann.

Knuff’s longtime pen-pal, 49-year-old Capobianco and her boyfriend, 65-year-old Mann, picked him up from the Lorain Correctional Institution in April. Knuff had served more than 15-years for numerous thefts in Parma, Parma Heights, Garfield, and Middleburg Heights.

On May 11, Knuff stabbed the couple to death in Mann’s Parma Heights home and spent more than a month trying to cover-up his crimes.

Capobianco and Mann were discovered on June 21.

The indictment includes 21 charges including Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery, Theft, Kidnapping, Gross Abuse of a Corpse, Vandalism, and Breaking and Entering.

“This career criminal who was just released from prison went on to commit a slew of crimes and brutally murdered two of his so-called friends,” said O’Malley. “His heinous acts compelled our office to seek the death penalty.”

Knuff will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. on July 25, 2017.
