Grand Jury Indicts Man For Stabbing Death of 1 Yr. Old Son

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Grand Jury has indicted a Parma man for stabbing and killing his one-year-old son.

On Saturday, May 12, Jason Shorter, 41, walked in to the Parma Police Department and stated he wanted to turn himself in for attempted murder and suicide. Shorter was bleeding from self-inflicted cuts to his wrists.

When police searched Shorter’s vehicle in the parking lot, they discovered his 22-month-old son in the trunk with stab wounds to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“This individual viciously took the life of his son, apparently to spite the child’s mother,” said Prosecutor O’Malley. “We are reviewing the case for capital murder specifications.”

The seven count indictment charges Shorter with three counts of Aggravated Murder, and one count each of Kidnapping, Murder, Felonious Assault, and Endangering Children.
