McGinty, DeWine accuse Youngstown mayor, Mahoning County official of racketeering


CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty is taking on a large-scale Youngstown corruption scandal that accuses the city's mayor and a Mahoning County commissioner of racketeering and bribery, charges that long ago took down the region's Mafia.

McGinty and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on Wednesday announced a public corruption indictment that charges Mayor John McNally and county Auditor Michael Sciortino in a web of accusations involving bribes, perjury and illegal campaign funds. The prosecutors said some of the allegations of wrongdoing took place in Cuyahoga County, allowing authorities to bring the case here.
